Guild Meetings

Once a month January through April. They are free and open to all members of Pelican Bay

Professional photographer's from Southwest Florida give a 45 minute presentation
with Q & A, give members a new assignment and critique member submissions.

How to better understand the success and clarity of one’s photographs by developing strategies and techniques to assess your photos; how to get more than one photo out of a shot; how to eliminate photos.

3/9 - How to Organize Your Photos………………………………….…Kristen Goodman

After the shot, what next?  Learn how to organize your photos for scanning, to make a book, slideshow or video; a review of different services available to you and how they work, including clouds.

4/6 - The Challenges of Shooting for a Daily Newspaper ……………………………. David Albers
David Albers, Chief Photographer for the Naples Daily News will discuss photojournalism
as well as share some of his photos.

* Workshops ($60 per person)

Professional photographers from SouthWest Florida lead 3 hour,
hands-on sessions on various topics of interest. 
Members bring their own cameras.
Workshops are limited to 20 participants so sign up early.



1/19 -Lighting Techniques…………………………………………….………Frank Berna

Includes principles, techniques and tools for lighting in a variety of situations. Will cover using the portable flash, when to use fill-flash, night shooting, controlling light and exposure and how to work around bad lighting.


2/2 - The Fine Art Black-and-White Digital Print…………………..………Frank Berna

This workshop will address how to see and think in black and white; black and white conversion techniques. Editing with pre-sets and plug-ins explained.


3/23 - Choosing The Right Camera for You…………………………….…Frank Berna

Confused by all the choices?  Frank will review camera types and purposes.  Arm yourself to find the best camera for your needs. Also answer the question: what lenses should I pack?

* Field Trips ($60 per person)

Get out and shoot with a Professional photographer from SouthWest Florida!

Ask, shoot and learn as you go. $60 per person per trip unless otherwise noted.
Field Trips are usually limited to 14 participants so sign up early.


11/4, 2015 - 2 pm - Guided Artis-Naples tour of Weegee by Weege exhibit (THIS ON WAS FREE)


2/18 - 7 a.m. - Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary Swamp Buggy Tour - behind the scenes - with Corkscrew's Professional Staff. NOTE: Switched from 2/16 because of weathe on that date.
The fee is a suggested $60 or more donation to Audubon's Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary.

A unique immersion experience as typically guests see the swamp only by walking its boardwalks. The 11,000 acres of marshland is home to 600-year-old trees, otters, alligators, and a beautiful collection of endangered birds.  An important breeding area for the endangered wood stork and other wetland birds, it also has wintering painted buntings. Numerous wading bird species can be found in the wetlands of the sanctuary, including the yellow crowned night heron, black crowned night heron, tricolored heron, great egret, and snowy egret

Swamp Buggy Excursion at Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary    February 18, 2016 : We try and capture the experience, beauty and knowledge about Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary and the watershed that supports it and the Everglades. A special thanks to our guide and driver, Jason Lauretsen, Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary's Director.

* All Field Trips & Workshops are $60 per person and led by professional photographers from SouthWest Florida. Some events have a separate entry ticket fee as noted. Seventh Annual Photography Show and Exhibit - 1/27-2/24

Wednesday, January 27th - Installation of Photography Show

Photographs must be dropped off between 9-10 a.m.

Limited to two photographs per member. The entry fee is $10 for up to two photos.

Thursday, January 28th - Photography Show opening cocktail reception and presentation of awards 4:30 - 6:30 p.m.
